Flotilla 14-19 Commander’s Welcome

Welcome and thank you for taking an interest in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and our Flotilla!  The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is dedicated to saving lives through Public Education, Courtesy Vessel Safety Checks, Air Patrols, On-Water Patrols and a variety of other activities.  We also provide support to local US Coast Guard stations.  Flotilla 14-19 is a proud organization and has the honor of being the largest flotilla in Michigan.  We train hard, work hard and enjoy what we do.  As an organization of volunteers, our reward is knowing that we helped someone or saved a life.

As a US citizen we all have a responsibility to look out for each other’s safety and the safety of our great country.  The importance of this responsibility and the need to get involved became even more prominent since 9/11.  I invite you to get involved in the Auxiliary’s Waterway Watch program.  I also invite you to check out the rest of our site and our Division and National sites, which can be accessed though links provided in our site.

We also have a lighter side.  Fellowship is very important to us.  In addition to socializing after our monthly meetings, we schedule events such as family picnics, family bowling and Christmas events at the FOX Theater.  Many close friendships have resulted.

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary, a formal part of the Department of Homeland Security, is a very exciting organization.  If after reviewing information on our sites, you have an interest in the organization, please feel free to contact our Personnel Services Officer at bbbur@hotmail.com or me at prschulz@comcast.net.

Again, thank you for your time and interest.

Semper Paratus

Paul Schulz
